Halloween Tradition

Every year my mom has a Halloween party.   The kids get all dressed up, we eat dinner and carve pumpkins.  The kids LOVE it!  This year we also got to celebrate a birthday(Happy Birthday Josie) and have FHE (great job Codi).  It was a fun filled night.  NOTE: my sister and her family (Richard, Kari, Cody, Kyle, Zach & Brandon) live in Ohio.  We miss them at all of our parties!!!  We hope they come back to live closer to us some day.

Tori - 50's girl, Jake - Dad, Adri - Dirtbike Rider, Karen - Mom (my costume every year), Justus - Scary Scarecrow.  He made his own costume and thought it was the most fun ever.  He had to use a needle and thread AND a glue gun.  He is so very crafty!

Codi - Sis-in-law, Cinch - Lion (he's saying 'roar' of course), Gracie - Gymnastic Gold Medal Winner, Stran - Hunter, Brian - Brother.

Amber - Sis-in-law, Kacie - Countess Dracula (yes, I made that up), Kade - Pirate, Kevin - Brother, Cole - cutest Dragon ever.

Wendy - Sis-in-law, Mallory - Hippie, Josie - Black Cat, Brooke - Rock Star, Dalton - Pikachu, Shane - Brother, Tate - Bob the Builder (can you fix it?  I'm pretty sure he can).

My Mom, the proud grandma, with all of the scary Halloween kids.

Justus carving away!  He carved a scarecrow face.

Here's Adri carving.  She got a little scary with that knife!  She carved many things.  The shape of her hand and a dog were a couple of them.

Tori carved stars for eyes, a moon nose and a cloud mouth.

Lilly approved of all of the pumpkins, especially Adri's.

Wow Flowers

We needed a BIG thank you card (I used a full sheet of paper and folded it over, but you can't tell that in the picture) for one of our Young Women advisors who got called into R.S. (sob, sob, sob -- sob, I said -- sob, sob, sob).  We are so sad to see her leave us, but know she'll do great in her new calling.  So Jen if by any chance you read my blog you will be VERY missed!  We love you!!!  We're still on for dinner at the Pizza Factory at least once a month.  You were an awesome advisor!

Wow Flowers

This is another Chalkboard Technique card.  I made this for my Stamp Club card trade.  On the Happy Birthday circle stamp I tried to leave the Happy Birthday white and just chalk the outside circle in Ruby Red and the Flower in So Saffron.  The brad in the middle of the flower is Ruby Red.  I used the Canvas stamp in Chocolate on So Saffron card stock for the strip or band.

Upsy Daisy

This is the card we made at Stamp Club Thursday night.  We used the Chalkboard Technique.  First you stamp your solid image in the White ink pad and then you dab on Stampin' Pastels (chalks) with a Q-tip.  You can blend the colors like we did or just keep solid colors.  When you're done you can lightly brush the extra chalk away with a Swiffer.  These colors (Red, Pumpkin & Olive) make a great fall card.

Upsy Daisy

I'm sorry I keep using the same sets over and over, but I really don't have that many to choose from right now.  It's nice to see all the different possibilities with one set -- right?  Plus, I just love this set!  You can't see the cute Gable Green polk-a-dot paper at the top of the card, but it's from the Rainbow Sherbet designer series paper.  So cute!  The large oval punch came in handy to punch out the greeting.

Spur of the Moment Card Class

Hey everyone!  I've had some people who have wanted to attend a card class, so here we go!  At this class we will be making 12 cards.  You'll make 4 different designs, 3 of each design.  The cards will be every day cards like Birthday, Thank You and cards with No Greeting that you can use for any occasion.  Let me know if you'd like to attend.  Also let me know if a Thursday evening works best for you or a Saturday morning.  I'll have it on the day that the most people can attend.  I will only be able to hold the class if at least 5 people sign up.  Too much work involved!  These are the two different days I can offer:

Thursday, November 6  -- 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

-OR-

Saturday, November 8 -- 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

The cost of the class will be $12 and you will need to bring your own adhesive to assemble your cards.  You need to RSVP and pay the $12 class fee to me by October 29th.  If I don't have at least 5 people sign up I will cancel the class and let anyone who has signed up know it's been cancelled.  If you have any questions please let me know.  I hope you can attend!  It's nice to have those cards on hand.

Wonderful You

I always like how the cards turn out with this set.  I used Pale Plum for the main card part and stamped the Canvas background stamp on it with Eggplant ink.  The solid part of the flower is colored with Pale Plum and Always Artichoke markers and then the outline image of the flower is stamped in Eggplant ink.

Wanted

For this card I got the layout idea from the catalog (again) on page 90.  I guess I'm fresh out of my own ideas for a minute.  It's nice to have the ideas in the book.  I like how the colors turned out.  I used Riding Hood Red and Close To Cocoa card stock and then accented with Chocolate paper from the Bella Rose designer paper and Chocolate ribbon.

Wow Flowers

I got this layout idea from the catalog on page 113.  I used all of the circle punches to make it easier.  I also used a build-a-brad in the center of the punched out flower and a felt flower at the top.  I used the little Sprinkles set for the background on the bottom circle as well as the build-a-brad.  The circle from Wow Flowers is embossed with white.

Think Happy Thoughts & Wow Flowers

My daughter Tori made these cute cards!  She did an awesome job and I wanted to share them with you!  She definitely loves flowers like her mom.

Daddy/Daughter Date

Adri got all dolled up Friday night and took her dad to the Achievement Days Daddy/Daughter Date.  The girls worked hard preparing for this night making decorations and planning games.  She had a ball and loved the contests like bubble gum blowing and hula hoop.  She couldn't figure out why all the girls had poodle's on their skirts (it was a 50's theme).  I felt bad that she didn't have a poodle skirt, but Grandma's was just a little too big!  Jake was a good sport and came down the canyon from the Scout Campout to take Adri and then he went back up after their date!  It made a good fun memory for Adri.

Adri 'patiently' waited for her dad to come down from scout camp to take her.  She only asked a dozen times when he was going to be here.  They were just a little late.

Ahhh...finally time to go.  She did NOT want me to take this picture (she wanted to leave NOW), so I hurried and it's a little blurry.  Don't mind Adri's red eyes.  Some day I'll learn how to fix those!

Think Happy Thoughts

This scan is a little blurry because of the thickness.  The Filigree brads are SO darling though.  I just love them!  The 'happy birthday' greeting and flowers are embossed with Winter White embossing powder.  It makes for a nice, shiny look on the card.  Of course that's something you have to see in person.  I love the Pumpkin Striped ribbon also, it's such a fun look.

Starstruck

The lighter paper looks gray, but it's actually kraft.  The other colors I used are Bordering Blue (with the Sanded stamp on it) and Night of Navy.  It's hard for me to come up with birthday cards for guys.  I think this one will work though.  I used the Word Window punch to punch out the hole on the first two layers of paper and then used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to put the greeting perfectly inside the window.  It's a handy tool to have!

Bugs & Kisses

Isn't this such a cute birthday card for a little boy?  I love how these three In Colors look together.  I was sad to discover that I'm totally out of white ribbon.  So I used white paper instead.  You have to be careful because the paper rips quite easily.  I find that if I run my fingernail along both sides of the paper a couple of time it softens it enough that it's a little easier to work with.

Wonderful You

It's super hard to tell on this card, but I used the kissing technique.  I inked up the Canvas background stamp with Mellow Moss ink and then used it as the 'pad' for the solid leaf image.  If you look really close you can see it sorta, kinda . . . I should have used a darker color.  The outline image of the leaf is done in Handsome Hunter.  The Canvas looks good with the Gingham ribbon.

Fall Flair

Fall Flair is the perfect set for this time of year!  I stamped the solid leaf in Old Olive and then rolled off the out side edges on a scratch piece of paper to get a little of the ink off and then I rolled the outside edge in Really Rust.  I like to do that to add a little extra color to the solid image.  Let me know if you'd like to host a party in your home or have a book party to earn this great set for free!

Upsy Daisy

I wanted to make a few cards for my Mother-in-law for her birthday.  It seems like she's always needing Thank You cards and Birthday cards.  I plan to make lots this weekend while watching General Conference.  I love pink and brown together and I really love this set!  The ribbon might be hard to tell how I did it.  I used the Horizontal Slot punch and put the wide brown grosgrain ribbon through it and then tide the two other ribbons on to hold it all in place.  Hope that make sense.
